The short version
- The game is free. Play fair and keep your captain name decent.
- It's a hobby project: it may change, break or go offline at any time.
1. Who we are
Broadside is run by Matthias Amberg ("we", "us"). Contact: matthias dot amberg at gmail dot com. By playing, you agree to these terms.
2. The game
The game is free to play and needs no account. We may change, pause or shut it down at any time, including the multiplayer server. Your presets and record live only in your browser and can be lost, for example when you clear your browser data.
3. Playing fair
When you play, please don't:
- use a captain name that is offensive, hateful, sexual, impersonates someone else, or contains personal data;
- cheat, for example by modifying the client or messages to gain an advantage;
- overload, attack, probe or interfere with the server, or automate access in a way that disrupts other players;
- use the game for anything illegal.
We may remove matches or block access to stop any of this.
4. Ownership
The game, its code, art, sound and music belong to us. You may play it and share links to it. The fonts Silkscreen (Jason Kottke) and VT323 (Peter Hull) are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
5. No warranty
The game is provided free of charge and "as is", without any promise that it is available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
6. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any damage or loss arising from the game. This does not limit liability that can't be limited by law, in particular for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or under mandatory product liability law.
7. Privacy
How the game handles data is explained on the Privacy page.
8. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the law of the country where we are based. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If one part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
